Author Guidelines

All authors must format their paper following these guidelines:

  1. All content must be fully and clearly referenced when from other sources. Large amounts of text, all figures and images and all tables from other sources must be referenced and you must have copyright permission in writing (email is acceptable) from the copyright holder to use the content.
  2. References use the APA format, which can also be found in the Notes for Contributors for Tourism Geographies.
  3. Use Calibri 11 point font for all text, except the title, which should be Calibri 16 point font and bold.
  4. Use single line spacing and approximately 1 inch margins on all sides.
  5. Please place all Figures and tables in the approximate desired location in your paper. Do not include them as separate documents or at the end of your paper.
  6. Color images and table are acceptable -- you do not need to convert these to black and white.
  7. Include your full contact information at the top of your paper. You may also include a biographical note (optional). Your paper will not be anonymously reviewed.
  8. Include the full title, date and location of the conference where your paper was presented after your name and contact information and before your abstract and keywords.
  9. Please leave Header and Footer spaces blank/empty.  Page numbers and titles in these spaces will be added by the editors.
  10. Do not submit PDF files. Submit your paper in MS Word (preferred), RTF or Open Office format only.
  11. You may include supplementary information as an appendix at the end of the paper (after the references).
  12. Please download one of the existing articles published in a recent issue of Tourism, Leisure and Global Change and try to format your paper to match it.

  1. Include your full contact information on the title page of your presentation. Your presentation will not be anonymously reviewed.
  2. Include the full title, date and location of the conference where your paper was presented after your name and contact information
  3. Insert your full abstract and keywords on the second slide of your presentation. You may also include a biographical note on this page (this is optional).
  4. References use the APA format (see above).
  5. Please submit a PPT or PPTX file. Do not submit a PDF file.  You final file will be posted in PDF format, after the editors have added title and page information to it.
  6. If the file is very large please (a) remove all notes and (b) compress all images and pictures to a 150 ppi resolution (for web viewing), including trimming cropped images.  These actions will make your file smaller. If this remains a problem, please contact an editor for assistance.
  7. You may include supplementary information as an appendix at the end of the presentation.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

You will maintain copyright to the submission and you may still submit it to a refereed journal after it has been published in TLGC.

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word (.DOC or .DOCX), .RTF or PowerPoint (PPT or PPTX) file format. (Not PDF)

Headers and footers have been left blank, with no page numbers or titles.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

References to articles that are only available online (have not yet been published in print) also include either the DOI or full URL.

  4. The text is single-spaced; uses Arial or Calibri 11 point font; employs italics, rather than underlining for book and journal titles (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end of the entire paper.
  5. References are in APA format and the text, abstract and keywords adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Tourism Geographies Notes for Authors and TLGC Author Submission Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
